PIONEERS OF TELEVISION DVD REVIEW

A blurb from PBS Home Video about Pioneers of Television: This 4-part series champions the entertainers who launched an industry. Packed with hilarious clips and nearly 100 new interviews, this series offers television at its finest.

This four part documentary from PBS was fascinating with tons of memories from many living stars from the bygone days of the golden years of television with such greats as Jonathan Winters, Betty White, Merv Griffin, Steve Allen, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, Jim Nabors and Andy Griffin to name a few. The 4 parts of the series are Late Night, Sitcom, Variety and Game Shows. Bob Barker was interviewed the very day that he announced his retirement and the interviews were filmed in high definition, which gives a nice touch to the shows.
